Mayor's Message

Mayor Camille PayneI would like to invite you to visit Thomasville and find out why it's Worth the Trip! Thomasville offers all the charm of a small town - brick streets, a vibrant downtown filled with unique shops and beautiful Victorian homes - plus all the latest amenities you would expect to find in a large city.

Our state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure and emphasis on economic development allows us to offer the technology to attract and retain all types of business. Whether you own a small business in need of basic television and utility services or a Fortune 500 industry needing telecommunications services to connect to locations around the world, we've got what you need.

As Mayor, my commitment is to continue to make Thomasville a truly great city. I'm excited about the expansion of our services that will soon include commercial telephony. I'm also proud of the strides we're making to offer affordable housing to all of our citizens.

If recreation is your passion, we've got something to offer for everyone. Play a round of golf at our great 18-hole public golf course, Country Oaks. Practice your batting or kick around a soccer ball at our 75-acre recreational sports complex. Become a member of our YMCA, featuring a 50,000 sq. ft. facility that includes a gymnastics center, basketball gym, multi-use water complex and workout facilities. If you enjoy fishing, visit one of our greatest treasures, Cherokee Lake. Located right in the heart of Thomasville, you can easily fish from the banks of the lake or from the 80 ft. fishing pier.

You won't want to miss our regionally renowned Rose Show and Festival each April. The weeklong celebration is centered around one of the nation's oldest rose and flower shows. The festivities are located in our historic downtown area and showcase our unique town. Thomasville's Victorian Christmas celebration features costumed carolers and citizens strolling along Broad Street. Experience the magic of Christmas past as you enjoy delicious goodies from one of the many street vendors while riding in a horse and buggy.

Whether you're looking for a weekend get-a-way or a place to live and work, I hope you'll enjoy Thomasville's extraordinary atmosphere of pride in our heritage with a progressive attention to our future.
