Training Division
The Training Division is responsible for providing a safe environment for the community by minimizing the impact of fire, disaster, hazardous conditions, illness and injury through the highest quality training and education to the members of Thomasville Fire Rescue and the public we serve.
Training is responsible for: Federal, State, and Local regulation compliance, new employee orientation and screening, promotional testing and evaluation, and department-wide training. Additionally, training continues to research and develop new equipment, methods, technology and subjects that will improve departmental functions and ensure the safety of all personnel.
The Training Division’s main office is located at Fire Station 1. The departments training facility is located at Fire Station 2. The facility is composed of a two story burn building, training tower, obstacle course, smoke buildings and a classroom with computer based training. This training facility offers the department a safe area to perform training for all areas of the fire service including: search and rescue, fire suppression and emergency operations, driver operator training, hazmat operations, confined space, incident command training and Emergency Medical Technician-Defibrillation training and much more.
The Training staff consists of a Captain, with the help of adjunct instructors throughout the department.
