Fire Investigation Division
1750 South Pinetree Boulevard
Thomasville, GA 31792
Thomasville Fire Rescue first addressed the issue of fire cause determination in the late 1990’s. Before that time, fire investigations were conducted primarily by company officers. The investigation process has come a long way from its early beginnings. For many years, fire cause determination training was nearly non-existent. Today, however, fire investigators with Thomasville Fire Rescue attend numerous specialty training classes and conferences annually. Arson training detection is also conducted within the city through the use of acquired structures that have been donated by citizens. Thomasville Fire Rescue has a strong working relationship with the Thomasville Police Department, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, as well the Georgia State Fire Marshall’s Office. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is also available for assistance if the complexity of the investigations warrants the need. Currently there are at least two Fire Investigators available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Arson is a very real and increasing problem throughout the United States. This problem affects everyone in every community. Thomasville Fire Investigators are committed to determining the cause and origin of all fires that are reported. Unfortunately, not all arson fires result in the arrest of those responsible. Support and cooperation of the citizens of Thomas County are a tremendous asset to investigative efforts. Anyone having information on recent or past fires are asked to call Thomasville Fire Rescue Investigator Jeff Hundley at (229) 227-7015 or you may leave a confidential message at (229)227-4076.
