Operations Division

The Operations Division is the largest division of the fire department.  Operations is currently staffed by 39 uniformed career personnel assigned to three alternating shifts (A/B/C) working from three strategically distributed fire stations. Operations work 24 hours on and 48 hours off. The firefighters respond to a wide variety of 911 calls that include: structure fires, medical incidents, motor vehicle accidents, vehicle extrication, hazardous material incidents, and technical rescue incidents. In addition to emergency work, operation members provide a wide range of services to the community including blood-pressure screenings, tours of the fire stations and apparatus, smoke detector programs and fire and life safety presentations within the community.

The Operations Division runs three engine companies, one truck company and one Battalion Chief per shift.

Thomasville Fire Rescue first priority is to save lives.  If firefighters know someone is inside a burning building, our first action will be to get that person out as quickly and safely as we can.  Our second priority is to save property. Thomasville firefighters are trained to do the least amount of damage possible while fighting a fire. When we break windows or cut holes in the roof, we are trying to remove smoke so we can get inside and put out the fire as quickly as possible.
