Meet Our Human Resources Staff
The members of the City of Thomasville’s Human Resources Division are professional individuals of the highest caliber. The Human Resources team strives to provide vital and informative human resources programs to not only their internal customers, but to area businesses and organizations as well through their consulting efforts.
Kha McDonald
Assistant City Manager - General Government/Human Resources Director
Twenty-two years of human resources experience, in both the public and private sector (private sector experience includes investment banking and retailing). Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication and a graduate certificate in public administration. Received facilitation, leadership, performance management and compensation/salary management training through nationally recognized organizations. Member of the Society for Human Resources Management, American Compensation Association, International Personnel Management Association, American Public Power Association and Georgia Local Government Personnel Association.

Lawana Smithwick
Human Resources Manager
Thirty years of human resources experience in both public and private sector (private sector experience includes manufacturing). Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, trained in facilitation and leadership skills through nationally recognized organizations, Plan Administrator for City's Defined Contribution Plan, member of Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA), Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), International Personnel Management Association (IPMA), American Public Power Association (APPA), and Rose City Credit Union Credit Committee.

General Services Administrator
Thirty-seven years experience with local government and public utilities. Trained in facilitation and leadership skills through nationally recognized organizations. Member of Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) and Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).

Ten years of Human Resources experience with local government. Five years experience in Records Division of Police Department. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Member of Georgia Local Government Personnel Association, Society for Human Resources Management, and Thomas County Employer Committee.
