Housing Administration
The office of the Housing Administrator works to ensure that our citizens have access to safe, decent, and affordable housing.
We assist low to moderate income residents by providing information about housing resources and by making referrals to local and statewide agencies that provide direct services, including:
- Homeless prevention, rental assistance, emergency shelter and transitional housing
- First-time homebuyer first mortgage and down payment assistance loan programs
- Educational opportunities for homeowners and homebuyers including financial skills and credit education, foreclosure prevention, home maintenance, and other topics of interest
- Neighborhood revitalization
- Housing rehabilitation, weatherization, and handicap accessibility improvements
- Affordable rental housing and new home construction
We provide housing-related educational opportunities for community leaders and the public through participation in the SW GA Housing Task Force, the Thomasville/Thomas County Homeless Coalition and Family Connection. We help sponsor a yearly Regional Housing Fair, several neighborhood events, and other activities.
We seek state, federal, and local grants for neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, down payment assistance, homeless services, and other housing related needs.
