Patrol Division

The Thomasville Police Department’s Patrol Division serves as the back bone of the department.  The Patrol Division is comprised of four teams, each of which consists of a Watch Commander, Assistant Watch Commander and six to seven patrol officers.  The teams within the Patrol Division work 12 hour shifts and alternate between the day shift and night shift every four months.  Some of the duties of the Patrol Division are:  taking reports for crimes and accidents, directing traffic, traffic enforcement and acting as escorts for businesses and funeral processions.

The K-9 Unit is comprised of three, dog and handler teams.  Each K-9 Team is assigned to a particular Patrol Division team.  The K-9’s are used for tracking criminals and missing persons, narcotics detection, handler protection and for finding property or evidence pertaining to a crime (weapons, clothing, or merchandise).
