Gang and Juvenile Unit
Officer Dominic Ford currently serves as the Gang/Juvenile Specialist for the Thomasville Police Department; is assigned to the F.B.I. Southwest Georgia Gang Task Force; and is a member of the Georgia and Florida Gang Investigators Association. Officer Ford has been with TPD since 2005 and has extensive gang training, including a Basic Gang Specialist Certification, Gang Investigation through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, and Street Gang Identification and Investigation through the Institute of Police Technology and Management. Officer Ford served first as a patrolman and then school resource officer before being reassigned to the newly formed gang/juvenile unit.
The gang/juvenile unit’s primary duties include gang investigations, intelligence gathering, and prevention/intervention. The gang/juvenile unit is also responsible for providing gang training to law enforcement officers or agencies, and gang awareness classes for the community.
