Five Year Strategic Plan

On behalf of the entire City Council, it is my pleasure to present the City of Thomasville's Strategic Plan.

In 2008, the City Council met with senior level staff and we jointly identified eight broad areas of focus that are criticial to the City's continued success.  The City's staff then had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and their talents to finalizing the Strategic Plan.

The result of these coordinated efforts is a plan that will act as a guide for the City's operations over the next five years.  We look forward to the challenge and appreciate the opportunity to serve you.

The Planning Process

The planning process began with a retreat for the City Council, the City Manager, and Division Heads.  At this retreat, the group identified eight key areas upon which to focus.

In the second step of the Planning Process, the City Manager presented these eight areas to supervisors and department heads in order to formulate a plan of action.  After the action plan was created, every City employee was given the opportunity to participate in the refinement of the Strategic Plan.

We now have a plan that will guide us for the next five years.  Most importantly, this plan reflects the ideas and commitment of every individual who serves the citizens of Thomasville.
